Determination of aquifer position, aquifer protective capacity and groundwater quality in selected dumpsite in obubra local government area of south eastern Nigeria

At Obubra Urban in Cross River State, aquifer position, protective capacity, and groundwater quality assessment were carried out. With a maximum electrode spacing of 480 meters, 12 vertical electrical sounding (VES) surveys conducted. The data collected processed using the IPI2win program. employing five locations for 2D survey A resistivity map dumpsites was also produced tomography (ERT). While traditional laboratory techniques utilized to examine groundwater, tritium tagging investigations conducted determine extent infiltration study area. Four geoelectric sections are shown study. is located at depths 51.7, 56.4, 34.5, 56.4 meters third, fourth, fifth layers, respectively. other VES have values between 0.06g 015 mhos classed as weakly protected, over burden protection capacity has 0.3, 0.2, 0.18, 0.17 1, 4, 7, 8, area's system likely extremely permeable with strong storativity because high porosity transmissivity characteristics. area an value 7 21 percent, according technique used measure from dumpsite. research porous, results procedures described above, toxins will circulate through it quickly if they contaminated. investigation reveals that while magnesium cadmium present quantities beyond WHO-approved limits portable water, all psychochemical markers within acceptable limits.
